Azatbash Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Along Azatbash, Karzhantau Ridge. N.E. Minakova, 1941 (298, p. 20, 23). Stratotype not specified. The Azatbash suite was distinguished in the volume of basal conglomerates (298); G.A. Belenky (96; 97) increased the volume of the suite, including in it the red sandstones and clays of the overlying Chanak suite.

Lithology and Thickness
Spotted red-colored breccias, conglomerate-breccias, conglomerates, sandstones with individual layers of red sandy clays. Thickness 15-150m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Transgressively overlies the Paleozoic or Changi Fm (Upper Triassic(?) - Lower Jurassic(?)),
Upper contact
with erosion overlain by the Kyzylatin Fm
Regional extent
Prishashkent Chuli, foothills of Chatkal and Karzhantau Ridges, in the Tashkent depression, the suite is exposed by boreholes.
